Odissi
Odissi is an Indian classical dance form from the eastern coastal state of Odisha, India.
The style of Odissi taught in TFA was developed by the late Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. This style is known for its intricate torso movements, footwork, and emphasis on strength and grace. Today, under the guidance and mentorship of Guru Ratikant Mohapatra, the Odissi department at TFA continues to learn and grow.
Odissi in TFA begins with developing a foundation of strength, alignment, and systematic understanding of technique. As students progress, the concept of Abhinaya is introduced. With exposure to other styles such as folk, and opportunities to perform, the Odissi students of TFA are nurtured to become versatile dancers.
